Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party
Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
