19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
